Etymologically, the term ‘Siksha’ has come from the Sanskrit term ‘Shash’ which means to discipline, to control, to order, to direct, to rule, etc. It is also derived from Sanskrit term ‘Vidya’ which means to know. it is acquisition of knowledge, experiences and skills.

‘Educare’, ‘Educere’, ‘Educatum’, and ‘e’+ ‘duco’.
‘Educare’ means to bring up, to rise, and to nourish, to train or mould.
The child has to be brought up like a plant in the garden by the teacher. His potentialities should be developed with proper care and nourishment.
‘Educere’ means ‘to lead out’, ‘to draw out’ and ‘to bring forth’.
Each and every child has the innate powers which should be properly located, cared, and given scope to develop.
'Educatum’ means an external growth that is imposed from outside.
The teacher, through education, provides instructions and gives direction to mould his abilities.
‘E+ duco’- The term ‘E’ means out of and ‘duco’ means ‘to lead’.
The child has some inherited potentialities which is inborn. It is only possible through education and by the active participation of the teachers.
