MS SkyDrive vs. MS Mesh

In information technology world for cloud storage many times we get acquainted with the brands like Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. In ERP implementation for various data or document backup reasons as usual we may required to know this area as well. Many of us had a great confusion around the difference between MS SkyDrive and MS Mesh synced storage. So here is a concise information on the same to clear all the confusion.

SkyDrive
Sky Drive (now OneDrive)

Both the Windows-Live Mesh Cloud Synced-Storage and SkyDrive Cloud Synced-Storage are from Microsoft. The differences and usage of these two are as follows.

OneDriveMesh storage space is a little different from the rest of your storage space on SkyDrive. You can sync folders on Mesh even if they have files that are larger than 50 MB, but you can’t view or edit Office documents on Mesh online. On the contrary on SkyDrive we can sync any files (not larger than 50 MB) and we can view most of them online, on browser. Using SkyDrive we can even edit the Office documents on the browser itself. As of now initially Mesh gives 5GB and SkyDrive gives 7GB free cloud storage.

If we need just a synced backup of our data or documents on cloud then Mesh is perfect. But when we want to view or edit the synced backup files online then the SkyDrive Cloud Storage is perfect. Overall I like the new SkyDrive, as it provides better viewing options of my files on the could directly.

Recently Microsoft has merged these two into one service i.e. OneDrive.
