Important Indoor Cricket Rules - FFF Cricket

While playing Gali (Gully) cricket or Indoor cricket matches with FFF (FITNESS, FUN, and FRIENDSHIP) objectives then this blog can be a valuable read to improve the matches to the next level.

A few months back I had an opportunity to play a Corporate Indoor Cricket Tournament named “Ekal Premier League”. The game rules were so amazed that I thought to spread the same across my friends and connections with those who play cricket. The primary objective of the game I find is fitness and fun together which is very important for corporate people. The rules seem mostly taken from standard indoor cricket rules. Refer to this video for what I meant by this.

The list of the rules is really long, however, I find the following rules are significant ones to implement in any cricket match we play with similar objectives. See the rules in bold font, I find them as super important ones.

  1. The said rules were framed for MAX. 8 PLAYERS IN ONE TEAM for 8 OVERS which can vary as per the need I think.

  2. MINIMUM 6 BOWLERS ARE MANDATORY BUT MAX. 8 BOWLERS CAN BOWL i.e. 1 BOWLER CANNOT BOWL CONSECUTIVE 2 OVERS. MAX. OVERS BY ANY BOWLER IS 2. This rule gives equal opportunity to all the players to bowl and enjoy the match to the fullest.

  3. BATTING IS TO BE DONE IN PAIRS, EACH PAIR HAS TO BAT FOR 2 OVERS. This rule helps to involve every player in batting and enjoy the game with all equally.

  4. A DISMISSAL (OUT) WILL COST 5 RUNS TO A TEAM (NEGATIVE SCORING). A DIRECT -5 WILL BE GIVEN TO THE BATTING TEAM, NO OTHER RUNS TO BE AWARDED.

  5. A CATCH OF THE BACK, UP & SIDE NET EXCEPT THE FRONT NET IS DECLARED OUT.

  6. THERE ARE NO BONUS RUNS IN ZONE A (BACK NET). THE SIDE NETTING HAS RUN BONUS IN ZONE B (WHICH COVERS THE AREA, FROM THE START OF THE SIDE NETTING ON BOTH SIDES TILL THE HALFWAY LINE OR MARKED LINE) WHILE ZONE C (AFTER THE MARKED OR HALFWAY LINE TILL THE END OF THE SIDE NET) HAS A 2 BONUS RUN ON BOTH SIDES AND ZONE D (THE FRONT NET) IS THE 4 & 6 RUN ZONE.

  7. PLEASE NOTE-NET BONUS RUNS (AS SAID ABOVE) ARE TO BE AWARDED ONLY IF AT LEAST 1 PHYSICAL RUN IS TAKEN. This rule encourages more physical activity by the batsmen.

  8. IF THE BALL HITS TWO DIFFERENT RUN ZONES, THEN THE SCORES FOR BOTH ZONES WILL BE ADDED.

  9. OVERTHROWS THAT HIT THE BONUS RUN ZONES WILL GET THE BONUS RUNS ADDED TO THE RUNS TAKEN. This will make the players more conscious and controlled in throwing the ball on the court.

  10. WHEN THE BALL HITS THE CORNER, THE BATTING TEAM GETS MAXIMUM RUNS.

  11. ONLY PHYSICAL RUNS CAN BE SCORED OF LEG BYES & BYES AND NO BONUS RUNS SHALL BE AWARDED UNTIL AN OVERTHROW TAKES PLACE.

  12. PHYSICAL RUNS ARE TO BE RUN UP TILL THE HALFWAY LINE ONLY.

  13. LBW RULES ARE NOT APPLICABLE.

  14. ALL OTHER CRICKET DISMISSALS IS CONSIDERED OUT.

There are other rules as usual in any cricket there, please comment below if you want them to include in the continuation of this blog as well.

Thank you.
