Nokia Phone Codes

Old is Gold! Here are some very useful Nokia Symbian Codes for Mobile Techies. Some codes and approaches, described here, also work for other mobile phones like Samsung Mobiles as well.

Smart Phone User

Pull off Information about your phone

*#0000# - this is to check the version number or the details of the Operating System (OS) in your Nokia phone.
How to: Type *#0000# as a phone number in your mobile's dialling screen

Nokia Phone Info
*#06# - this is to get your handset's serial number (known as IMEI). In fact this code also works on other phones as well.
How to: Type *#06# as a phone number in your mobile's dialling screen

12345 - this the default lock code for most of Nokia phones. Try this if you want to change your phone's lock settings.

Safe Mode - this causes the phone to load as few apps as possible on phone start-up. In this mode your phone OS loads only the minimum required components and applications to run the phone with its very basic features. It is mostly required when you want to troubleshoot your phone's problem caused by any unknown application, or your phone is getting hanged as soon as you start it normally.
How to: First of all switch-off the phone either normally or taking the battery out if normally not possible. Then hold down the ABC key, and while holding it down, start up the phone.

Smart Phone Formatting

Formatting or resetting your phone either to solve any problem or to get the performance just like a new Nokia Symbian phone.

*#7780# - this is the phone's Normal-reset code, it restores 'ini' files from phone ROM, but preserves all user data (photos, 3rd party apps, etc.)

How to: Type *#7780# as a phone number in your mobile's dialling screen, and follow the instructions.

*#7370# - this is the phone's Soft-format or deep reset code. All the settings of your phone will be reset to original factory settings. It formats the C: drive (system drive or phone memory) completely; all applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be restored.
How to: Type *#7370# as a phone number in your mobile's dialling screen, and follow the instructions.
Note - by pulling the battery out of your pone for a few minutes also serves the purpose of phone-resetting in certain areas of the phone.

Hart Format - this is for resetting the phone completely to its factory defaults and removing all data from phone memory (not the SD Card).
How to: First of all switch-off the phone either normally or taking the battery out if normally not possible. Then follow these steps -
  1. Hold down the three buttons: Green (call answer) button, * button, and '3' button
  2. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone
  3. When the message 'Formatting' appears on the screen, release all of the buttons
Note - you shouldn't switch the phone off or remove the battery when performing these operations, and it's advised that the handset has a reasonable amount of battery charge before performing a format/reset.
