First Ananda Mela in Srijan Midlands

Ma Durga Idol - Year 2012 @ SM

The first Ananda Mela (Hindi: आनंद मेला, Bengali: আনন্দমেলা) of Srijan Midlands (SM) echoes the community's sentiment around Durgapuja (Bengali: দুর্গাপূজা). This year (2014) SM is stepping into the third year of Durgapuja. From 2012 SM is celebrating this awesome festival of cooking and selling foods within community on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya (Bengali: মহালয়া).

As we know in Bengal Mahalaya is observed seven days before the Durgapuja. It initiates the arrival of Ma Durga (Bengali: মা দুর্গা, Hindi: मा दुर्गा), the Goddess of supreme power. On Mahalaya Ma Durga starts her journey with her children from her husband Shiva’s home in Mount Kailash (in the Himalayas) to her parental home in the plains.
